A large rolling cooler can remain in an RV storage bay for years, moving between camping trips without another look at its identity label. If yours is an Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow model, check the official recall information before using it again. The 2025 recall expanded after the original announcement, so an early news clipping or remembered model list is not a complete check.
Use the notices as identification tools
The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall on February 13, 2025, and an expansion on May 8, 2025. The stated hazard is a tow handle that can pinch fingertips against the cooler, causing amputation or crushing injuries. The expansion identifies additional model numbers and manufacturing date ranges. Check the complete official notices rather than treating cooler color or capacity alone as a reliable match.
The model label and manufacturing date information are on the cooler’s bottom, as illustrated in the notices. Locate them without operating the hazardous handle. If the cooler is loaded, awkward to move, or difficult to identify, get appropriate assistance and contact the recall provider about the next step. Do not demonstrate the hazard or test whether your own fingers can be pinched.
Follow the specified remedy
CPSC says consumers should immediately stop using recalled coolers and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle. The manufacturer’s safety alerts page also presents the recall and expansion information. Use those official paths for identification, registration, and remedy instructions. Do not assume a homemade guard or a change in how the handle is held completes the recall remedy.
Set the cooler aside so another member of the household does not load it for the next trip. Keep a note with the equipment explaining the issue and whether a remedy request has been submitted. If the cooler changes hands within a family, pass along the status and documentation. An item moved to a different storage location can otherwise reappear in the travel kit without anyone remembering the outstanding action.
Keep the trip food plan independent of the claim
Use a suitable alternative for food storage while the recalled cooler is out of service. Our refrigeration comparison guide explains different equipment approaches, but it does not turn an affected product into a usable stopgap. Select the alternative according to the food, trip duration, and equipment instructions you actually need to support.
Retain the recall request, correspondence, and completion instructions with the equipment record. Do not mark the action complete simply because a request has been filed. Follow the manufacturer’s remedy procedure and save the result. Our service document guide can accommodate accessory records as well as vehicle repairs.
This is a specific dated product recall, not a statement that all Igloo coolers are affected. For a broader routine covering vehicles and equipment, see our RV recall checking guide. The useful habit is to identify the actual item, check the complete current official notice, and finish the prescribed action before returning it to the camping routine.
Add the resolved accessory record to the packing review before the next outing.
