Confirmed dates and visitor details

Overland Expo West is scheduled May 14, 2027 through May 16, 2027 at Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff, AZ. All listed times are local Arizona Mountain time. Published hours: Friday–Saturday 9am–5pm; Sunday 9am–3pm Recheck the official event information before departure. This guide uses public dates and makes no claim of firsthand attendance.

A vehicle expedition display can make a future trip feel wonderfully concrete. It can also encourage a build list before you know which problems need solving. Begin the Flagstaff weekend with a learning brief: a short description of a journey you want to take and the information you need to prepare for it. Equipment can then be evaluated against a purpose.

Choose questions at the right scale

Select one question about packing, one about living in the vehicle, and one about planning the journey. Make them specific enough to discuss. Instead of asking for the best setup, explain who travels, what equipment comes along, and what currently causes difficulty. A presenter or exhibitor can respond more usefully to that description than to a broad aspiration.

As the edition’s program becomes available, choose sessions relevant to those questions and check their pass requirements. Do not assume that every activity mentioned by the series is included in every ticket. Keep the actual booking terms with the itinerary and leave space between sessions to review notes or continue a conversation.

Record the assumptions behind a demonstration

When a product appears to solve your problem, ask which vehicle, load, components, or operating conditions the demonstration assumes. Record the exact model information and where its manual is published. An impressive display may be useful evidence of a particular arrangement; it is not automatically evidence that the arrangement will suit your own vehicle.

For a custom build, ask how the proposal would be documented and what information the builder needs from you. Separate the base vehicle, installed equipment, and project terms. A useful conversation should make the next research step clearer, whether that is a measurement, a technical consultation, or a more detailed written scope.

Keep the overnight plan independent

Before choosing any camping package, check the current edition’s vehicle, arrival, passenger, and departure terms directly with the organizer. General event admission is not proof of an overnight place. A campground elsewhere in Arizona may be relevant to a longer journey but should not be treated as an expo base without checking its location and route.

Make arrival day manageable. Save the official directions and confirmation information where everyone handling the trip can find them. Put setup, meals, and an ordinary evening into the plan as actual activities, rather than filling every hour with scheduled learning. You will be better able to evaluate ideas when the weekend leaves time to think.

At home, turn your notes into a sequence of small decisions. Identify what you can improve with existing equipment, which questions require better evidence, and which ambitions belong to a later trip. Keep attractive ideas that do not fit the immediate brief in a separate folder. A clearer understanding of your needs is a useful return from the event even if the build list becomes shorter.

For a wider itinerary, explore our AZ campground directory as a statewide starting point. These listings do not establish nearby show lodging, current availability, or suitability for your rig. Check the exact location and operator details before reserving.
